NOT An April Fool's Joke - TEACHERS ARE DAMNED! - reprint

The Whole World (Wide Web) is Watching

Cautionary tales from the 'what-were-you-thinking' department.

Rights WatchWay back in 1974, California teacher and aspiring actor Lou Zivkovich famously was fired for posing nude in Playgirl magazine. His response, as reported by Newsweek, "I didn't murder anyone."

Nowadays, thanks to advances in technology, you don't even need a major publisher to get fired; just post your racy photos, sexually graphic writings, or wild party stories on a personal Web blog. You'll be amazed by how quickly tech-savvy students can disseminate your postings to their friends and your employer.

Here's a roundup of just some of the horror stories from last year:

In Virginia, high school art teacher Stephen Murmer was fired after posting photos of his "butt art" on the Web, which were viewed by scores of students. The budding artist applied paint to his posterior and genitalia, which he then pressed onto canvases. With the help of the ACLU, he sued the school district last fall claiming a violation of his First Amendment rights.

Band director Scott Davis from Broward County, Florida, was dismissed after school officials viewed his MySpace profile that included his musings about sex, drugs, and depression.

A Colorado English teacher lost her job after composing and posting sexually explicit poetry on her MySpace site. Police were even called in to investigate.

Nashville teacher Margaret Thompson was removed from teaching after posting "racy pictures" of herself, along with candid photos of her students, on her MySpace profile.

Florida middle school teacher John Bush was terminated because of "offensive" and "unacceptable " photos and information on his MySpace page.

Massachusetts teacher Keath Driscoll was suspended for his MySpace postings including "sexually suggestive" photographs, videos of drinking alcohol, and references to women as "whores."

But the clueless award goes to Atlanta-area high school football coach Donald Shockley, who was forced to resign last January for storing on his school computer photos of his assistant principal dressed in lingerie and posing in sexually suggestive ways. The photos were discovered by a student whom Shockley had asked to work on his computer and who then posted the photos on the Internet and sent them to other students at the school.

Last October, reporters for The Columbus Dispatch conducted an investigation of MySpace profiles posted by Ohio teachers. The newspaper quoted one 25-year-old teacher bragging that she's "an aggressive freak in bed," "sexy," and "an outstanding kisser." Another teacher wrote on her page that she had recently "gotten drunk," "taken drugs," and "gone skinny-dipping."

In the wake of these reports, the Ohio Education Association urged all OEA members to remove any personal profiles they may have posted on MySpace or Facebook. The Association also warned members that such profiles "can be used as evidence in disciplinary proceedings," which could "affect not only a teacher's current job but his/her teaching license" as well.

But what about free speech? Don't school employees have the right, on their own time, to blog about their private lives without fear of losing their jobs? Probably not.

While the courts have not yet decided any of these teacher blogging cases, it's the general rule that school employees can be disciplined for off-duty conduct if the school district can show that the conduct had an adverse impact on the school or the teacher's ability to teach. And it wouldn't be too difficult to make that showing if the teacher's blog includes sexually explicit or other inappropriate content and is widely viewed by students.

As to a possible free speech claim, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2004 that it was not a violation of the First Amendment for the City of San Diego to fire a police officer for posting a sexually explicit video of himself on the Internet. The unanimous Court said that such speech was "detrimental to the mission and functions of the employer."

There's an old lawyer's saw that goes something like this: Never put in writing anything that you wouldn't want read in open court or by your mother.

Maybe it's time for an updated adage: Never put in electronic form anything that you wouldn't want viewed by a million people, including your colleagues, students, and supervisors—and your mother.

I don't think that pearl of wisdom tells me much anymore in itself as some parents have gone to the attorneys for their child's 'freedom of expression', meaning they can flaunt the rules & be disruptive & swear at anyone but they cannot be expected to conform in any way. Parents have been noted shouting more obscenities at the administrators & staff than their children do, and model the opprotunity to abuse people in places of authority.

Maybe we need a 'Battle Royale' scenario. For those of you unfamiliar with this idea try the link I posted & see if it's a good idea to try to cull the rudness out of some asshole children. AND if you think the movie is rough or you're opposed, then you haven't read the 15-part graphic novel collection OR been in a classroom.

It's fucking sad that you need a license to buy a car, a gun or to hold some jobs, but you need no experience or training to have children. And the immature assholes having the children & fucking up the schools are the same ones who's kids go out having more children or procreating because THEY CAN like a fucking dog in heat! God help us all!

Cops: 3rd-graders aimed to hurt teacher .

By RUSS BYNUM, Associated Press Writer1 hour, 14 minutes ago

A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday.

The plot by as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said.

"We did not hear anybody say they intended to kill her, but could they have accidentally killed her? Absolutely," Tanner said. "We feel like if they weren’t interrupted, there would have been an attempt. Would they have been successful? We don’t know."

The children, ages 8 and 9, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, Tanner said. A prosecutor said they are too young to be charged with a crime under Georgia law.

School officials alerted police Friday after a pupil tipped off a teacher that a girl had brought a weapon to school, Tanner said.

Police seized a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape, electrical and transparent tape, ribbons and a crystal paperweight from the students, who apparently intended to use them against the teacher, Tanner said.

Nine children have been given discipline up to and including long-term suspension, said Theresa Martin, spokeswoman for the Ware County school system. She would not be more specific but said none of the children had been back to school since the case came to light.

The purported target is a veteran educator who teaches third-grade students with learning disabilities including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity, friends and parents said.

The scheme involved a division of roles, Tanner said. One child’s job was to cover windows so no one could see outside, he said. Another was supposed to clean up after the attack.

"We’re not sure at this point in the investigation how many of the students actually knew the intent was to hurt the teacher," Tanner said.

The parents of the students have cooperated with investigators, who aren’t allowed to question the children without their parents’ or guardians’ consent, he said. Authorities have withheld the children’s names.

Police expected to forward the results of their investigation to prosecutors, Tanner said.

Children in Georgia can’t be charged with a crime unless they are at least 13, District Attorney Rick Currie said.

Martin told The Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville, Fla., that administrators would follow school system policy and state law in disciplining the students.

"From what I understand, they were considered pretty good kids," Martin said. "But we have to take this seriously, whether they were serious or not about carrying this through, and that’s what we did."

Four mothers of other third-grade students at Center Elementary called for the immediate expulsion of the suspected plotters.

Stacy Carter and Deana Hiott both cited school system policy stating that any student who brings "anything reasonably considered to be a weapon" is to be expelled for at least the remainder of the school year.

"We don’t want our children around them," Carter told the Times-Union. "The one with the knife could have stabbed my child or someone else’s child at lunch or out on the playground."

"This is an isolated incident, an aberration. ... We have good kids," Center Principal Angie Coleman told the newspaper.

So watch out teachers, ’cause you can’t hit them back but they CAN KILL YOU!!

A touch of Jealousy!! Grrrrrrrrr!!! - reprint

Yesterday I learned that I am going to be in student-teaching, and that one of the girls I taught will NOT be in student teaching! Thus I am PISSED & JEALOUS & ANGRY!!

img71/4913/fdhfdhfkm9.gif

I am upset that a guy like me is gonna be ignored & left back for the fucking lackey work FOR FUCKING FREE while this fat little twat gets to go straight into teaching. I may have to take a fucking summer job like teens or grad students do while I wile away the fucking hours in a shitty lumber yard or in a stale bookstore. I know her advisor set it the fuck up but she did it because she's been with her for a few years. I keep having to be shuffled around & moved from person to person, and it's a goddamned waste of my time & skills! Maybe this is why I feel that teaching is not for me & grow sadder each day!

img515/369/hateyouuuuuuuuij7.jpg

Maybe I should seduce the little goddamned skank, fuck her, and then post the picture on her MySpace.

Or any fucking where I can so they can all see the future teacher!

OR ... maybe I'm just too jealous & talking out of my ass!

~sigh!~

The Show Must Go On - reprint

For the last few weeks I've been in a quandry, and turmoil won't leave me so I can't succumb to the madness. I HAVE TO control it, and I have to work faster & further than before. Last night I had a realization when one of the "American Idol" contestants said she'd seen Freddy Mercury on 'Live Aid' in 1986 (or '87) and he inspired her. (Pause!) I was in high school so it was a strong memory for me. ~~~

~~ "On with the show!"

More Crap Galore! Envy & Frustration! - reprint

Some days I wonder what's gonna happen when all my observations are done. I'm going into student teaching next semester, and i would rather be hired and MAKE money, putting up with the crap instead of putting up with it for fucking FREE!!

Another fucking student is getting a job - he's younger than me and a tub of fucking shit! He's a reckless, disregarding asshole. I dislike the guy for personal reasons, and I don't think he'd make a good teacher but my opinion doesn't matter since I'm not hiring him.

Teaching is difficult enough with the standardized testing to deal with, meaning if you're a public school, you can lose state and federal funding for low scores. After all, you're in a poverty center, the children come from broken homes, and gang life & teenage pregnancies run rampant. That means you as the teacher HAVE to change them, and yet, you're not allowed to change them morally. You canNOT have undue influence and yet you're expected to bring children to a Juedo-Christian standard as slated by the man church-influenced rules and such intergrated in the laws of the land.

Corporal punishment can be writing lines - parents can sue the school for no reason even for the chance for their child to say the word "Fuck aloud" among other people.

Children lash out again & again, vulgar, grotesque, vile, obscene, and modelled after their disgusting parents. That's maybe why I keep wondering if I'll still be a teacher in five years. As I work on improving myself I work on writing projects, and working quietly on new art. When I am done with this semester, I'll need to take my standards testing for professional development. When I finish my student-teaching I'll be allowed to try for my certification program and make my career as a teacher. If this fails for me, or I find myself fathering children from the varsity cheerleading squad, well, then maybe I should have never been here!

I won't say I'm off-my-rocker but I'm not normal. Never have been - never will be.

I'll just have to keep trying. One day my dreams will come true.

Adios ...

Julian
